VICTIMS OF CRIME - VOCAT and FAS

If you or someone you know have been the victim of a violent crime, you may be eligible to lodge an application with the Victims of Crime Assistance Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)

Victims of crime compensation through FAS has been established to help people recover from an act of violence, by granting financial assistance to help with counselling expenses, loss of earnings, medical expenses and other expenses. In addition, Special Financial Assistance (a lump sum) can be provided to certain victims.

At Sellwood Legal we offer legal advice, support and assistance to victims of crime. Contact us today to find out whether you may be eligible for assistance. If eligible to make a claim, there will be no out of pocket expenses for our legal fees.

INTERVENTION ORDERS

If you have been impacted by family violence contact us today to discuss your situation and options. We have experience assisting clients to obtain and defend intervention order applications.

These matters are fixed fees, so you will know exactly what the cost will be before committing to our service.

CHILD PROTECTION

We provide advice and representation when child protection has become involved with your family. We listen to you and will advocate for you, both in Court and when negotiating with child protection.

We have experience assisting clients to navigate this area of law and helping clients to create a plan moving forward.

We can also determine if you are eligible to legal aid funding. If you are not eligible, we are happy to keep assisting you for a fixed fee. This means there will be no surprises and you will know your legal fees ahead of time.

ABOUT CARLA

Carla is the Principle and founder of Sellwood Legal.

Carla was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2015.

As a lawyer, Carla has experience assisting a wide range of clients with a variety of different legal problems.

Prior to being admitted as a lawyer, Carla worked as a Registrar for Courts Services Victoria for 13 years. During this time she worked within all Jurisdictions of the Victorian Court system, including the Coroners Court and the Victims of Crime Tribunal.

Carla holds

a Bachelor of Arts (Monash University),
a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from Deakin University and
a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law.

When she is not helping clients, she can be found spending time with family and friends. Outside of work, she is a wife, mother and stepmother. In her spare time she can be found in the kitchen whipping up delicious meals for her family and friends.
